Tabbit vs Raycast, Alfred, and Manico

Command-Tab cycles running apps. Raycast and Alfred are launchers. More than one product is named Manico, and those assign a key to an app. Tabbit is narrower: hold Command, press Tab, then type the app’s first letter. Chinese names use Pinyin initials.

Short answer

  • Keep Command-Tab and jump to a running app by its initial: Tabbit.
  • Search files, clipboard, extensions, or windows: stay on Raycast or Alfred. They can sit next to Tabbit.
  • Assign one fixed key per app, or open an app that is not running: Manico. Check which Manico.
  • Tabbit is not a “better Raycast”. This page does not cite download counts.

Two products named Manico

Chinese queries often land on manico.im or the Mac App Store. English “one key per app” queries often land on mariuti. They are not one product.

Pinyin initials

The in-repo FAQ says Tabbit uses Pinyin initials automatically. 微信 maps to W. English names keep their own initial, so 微信, Word, and WeChat share W.

Repeat the letter to cycle matches. The FAQ example is F for Finder, then F again for Firefox. Tabbit waits until the letter run finishes, and releasing Command confirms immediately. Tab, Shift-Tab, and the mouse still work.

The same FAQ says the list is running apps only, and apps that are not running are not launched. The docs homepage also says minimized windows can be restored, and Finder can be reopened when needed. That is not a general launcher. Intel Macs are outside Tabbit’s support.

Price and trial

Checked 2026-10-14. The pricing component in this repo sets the launch window before 2026-10-09 (¥29 / $4.99) and the later price at ¥49 / $6.99. The live homepage HTML fetched that day did not render “首发” or ¥29. Read the later price, and confirm at checkout.

The 7-day trial is once per email and once per Mac, counted continuously from the first claim. One license covers 2 Macs. The FAQ snapshot names version 0.1.33, Developer ID, notarization, and no Mac App Store listing. Without a trial or a license, the switcher does not run. The download link is the Feishu file on the docs homepage.

How to choose

  1. Fewer Command-Tab presses, including Pinyin: install Tabbit and allow Accessibility.
  2. Raycast or Alfred is already the launcher: keep it. Tabbit only adds foreground switching.
  3. One key should always open 微信, even when it is quit: use the Manico that matches that shortcut, not Tabbit.
